Hero

Everyone has challenges in life, but not everyone faces those challenges in the same way. Some may run away from problems and challenges. Heroes, however, are not runners. They face their challenges and almost always overcome them. When a hero does not overcome a challenge, he or she moves on and learns from the adversity. The greatest attribute of heroes is that they care more about others than they care about themselves.

One of the greatest heroes in my life is my mom. She does have the greatest attribute of a hero. She wants everyone to be happy, even at the expense of her own comfort. There is a saying that "if mom isn't happy, nobody's happy". That is true, but the opposite is even more true for my mom: "If someone in the family isn't happy, mom isn't happy."

My mom has faced all sorts of challenges in her life. Sometimes the problems get her down, but she overcomes and becomes stronger from hard experiences. A lot of the time, my mom's children really don't pitch in as much as they should. Regardless of that fact, my mom is always putting in 200%.

In recent years, my mom went back to school to get her bachelor's degree in elementary education. Along with schoolwork, she continued to do laundry every day, cook meals, and help take care of her children still living at home. Now that she is graduated, she has taken a job as a teacher's aid, and she still continues to do the laundry, cook, and help with other chores around the house.

My mom is always looking for something productive to do that benefits other people. Her selfless attitude has helped shaped the lives of her children. Her good attitude, hard work, and love have rubbed off on all of us in one way or another. I love my mom. What a hero!
